Meet Our Olympian

If you Googled Mallory “Mal” Pugh you would see over a handful of stories about her and her latest successes, such as:

• Mal was voted 2015 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year.

• She was named the 2015 Gatorade Colorado Girls Soccer Player of the Year and the 2015 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

• She was the youngest player in 11 years to debut with the senior national team on January 23rd when the U.S. defeated Ireland.

• And, last month she was named to the scaled-down 18-person Olympic roster. Mal is the second-youngest Olympian in the history of U.S. women’s soccer.

What you probably don’t know is that before all of her successes, Mal Pugh was a bright-eyed, energetic and eager 7-year-old coming in to train with Sterling at Team Speed. We asked Sterling, “Why do you think Mal is such a success and so popular with so many people?” He responded, “If I say anything about her, what’s special about her, is that she’s grounded. This stuff doesn’t affect her in any way and I love that! I just can’t stress how proud of her I am. I’m more proud of her remaining the same Mal that came in when she was 7 than anything else.”

Good Luck!
